We had the same problem with our baby (not the reflux part though) and would always be holding him. ![]() I carried u for 9 months I want my body and space back □□□ ![]() I have friends that never sleep trained and Co-slept and their kids still sleep with them in their beds 2-4 years old. I just stuck to my guns and followed safe sleep. Started sleep thru the night for 11-12 hours. Then after he was about 6 months old it was like he was a new baby. My son is a fantastic sleeper but you wouldn’t think that when he was a newborn. Not to say that I don’t sympathize with you because I DO. And people wonder why people are surprised when baby doesn’t sleep in a bassinet or crib? That’s why everyone tells you before you have kids that “hope you are ready to never sleep again for the next 2 years”. Some babies have an altimeter that seems to scream "we're going down!!! Mayday!!" So fake put down a bunch of times "see, nothing bad happened, still rocking" until she is de-sensitised to the sensation.I mean, not trying to be a Debbie downer. We had lullabies when really young, moved to rain, and now bus and train. White noise helps! We've found that what works varied by age. The hand that was under the legs goes on her chest for gentle pressure. Don't let the head touch early or wakey wakey. (Or like at 16 minutes)īum first, then legs, back and shoulders, head last. (If she was really asleep I could change her pyjamas without waking her!) So we'd move at 25 minutes, not 20. Every baby is slightly different on the timing but our girl would be back in a lighter sleep cycle around 20 minutes, and would wake so easily. Then the actual put down: timing is everything. Try prewarming her spot with a heat pack or hot water bottle- ALWAYS remove these before placing baby in and double check it's not too warm. Some people make up the bed with a worn shirt- same idea, just make sure it's tucked in nice and tight so it won't come loose and be a suffocation hazard. Ideally you haven't washed your sheets so the bassinet sheet smells like you. Take her bassinet sheet and tuck it into your bed. If you have other suggestions for resources, message our moderators.
